The Last Of Us Review

Uncharted was probably the best game of PS3. It was my first PS3 game. And I fell in love with this series and its developers: Naughty Dog.

And here it is. Another of their masterpiece. Naughty Dog has proven itself again.

The furor over The Last of Us game started long before its release. Undoubtedly, this game deserved it.

A viral outbreak. A pandemic. People have gone totally insane. There are infected ones. No faith in humanity. People are fighting for their survival. Killing for food, weapons and space. Even the non infected ones have become savage, And You need to survive too. Survival of the fittest. That it is; A survival horror.

The game revolves around Joe and a fourteen years old girl Ellie. Joe has to smuggle Ellie to Fireflies as she is the key to the cure of this pandemic. During their journey, they get to meet different people, survive and make their way through clickers and runners (the infected ones). This journey is beautiful. A true gaming experience. A masterpiece. You probably wouldn't experience it elsewhere.

The environment and objects around reminded me of Uncharted many times. They were quite similar to UC series. But better.

Throughout the game,I felt connected to the characters. The main star of this game was its narrative. Its story, dialogues, cut scenes, hint systems were outstanding. They were, in no way, behind, as compared to the game mechanics, gameplay and graphics. The narrative element was there with same excellence. And hence. a brilliant combination.

Game play is fabulous. Each character is perfectly fitted in; fit like a glove they were. The edifices. The abandoned cities. Rusted cars. A persistence silence. And infected monsters. Yes, that's what an outbreak would look like.

The main playable character is Joel. But the story revolves around both of them; Joel as well as Ellie. Joel and his friend had to smuggle her to fireflies. His friend leave them on the way and hence Joel has to do the job. The characters remain indifferent of each other feelings at the start. But slowly, they develop a bond. A bond that became so strong that a pseudo father-daughter relation established. And hence, because of it, Joel had to make an important decision at the end of the game.

Joel and Ellie conversations were really admirable. Their questions. Their getting to know of each other. Something that makes you smile while playing a video game. It is an unusual thing. The environment is beautiful. Every place has its beauty. The bend towers. A weeping silence. Struggling humanity.

This game includes almost every environment. Rivers. Tunnels. Beaches. Towers. Open grounds. Marshes. Cities.

The weapons used are according to the character's skills. You find weapons along your journey. There are supplements and pills hidden at secret places. Joe can used them to enhance his skills and weapons. The crafting option is brilliant. So, it is not like some other action game where you are going to get weapons and stuff at every other place or so. And hence, you have to make your decisions very carefully. Stealth or combat.

The infected ones are clickers and runners. Runners are easy to be killed. But clickers are deadly monsters. They attack like killing you is there only objective. And once you get near to them, there is no hope. They put your teeth right into your neck. And you have to start again. Fighting them is so hopeless. Only a gun can do. Or sheath. Sheath should be your best strategy against them.

You enemies are not only infected ones but also non infected humans.

Throughout the journey you will find rivals, friends, passengers and survivors like you, who would add it to your curiosity about the game and its characters.

Summing up: Everything about it is perfect.

The Last Of Us is truly a masterpiece. It is best, exceptional and an innovative experience. A must play video game.
